Visiting Portland for Animation Universe is also a unique opportunity to attend the Platform International Animation Festival (http://www.platformfestival.com/), June 25-30, 2007, featuring a major international competition in categories covering commercial and independent films, student animation and films for new platforms, including animated installations, cell phones, and the Internet. Platform will offer a solid week of premieres, retrospectives, exclusive screenings, guest speakers, exhibitions, workshops with leading artists, parties, and networking opportunities with industry insiders.
Animation Universe meets in close proximity to festival events and joins it for several shared events Friday, June 29. Animation Universe attendees are encouraged to purchase a Full Pass or Weekend Pass for the Festival. The Weekend Pass permits attendance in events from Thursday, June 28 through festival closing night on Saturday, June 30.
Among festival highlights will be an evening exhibition of animated installations on Thursday night.
Friday's events include shared keynote and panel discussions and an evening festival party with Platform animators and participants.
Saturday's SAS conference sessions are scheduled to accommodate viewing of the final festival screening during their closing night award ceremonies.
